Rihanna’s Hair Secrets Revealed.

Cutting your hair into a boyish crop is a big decision for most, but not for Rihanna - whose new short style came about very spontaneously indeed.

“We were on a long flight to Tokyo,” her hairstylist, Yusef Williams, told us. “I had all these hair dyes with me, a little blonde and a little ebony black. So we went with the black. Then I remembered we had these clippers and we started shaving off the sides and before we knew it, it was all gone. I didn’t want to shave it completely though, but she’s so pretty she could pull it off.”

Williams began working with the Vogue cover girl nearly four years ago, after - as he describes - “being sent to her from God”.

“We can sit down and talk about hair for hours, she and I,” he told us during the star’s 777 tour. “She sends me pictures of things she’s seen in magazines at 5am from her home. We take a lot of inspiration from guys actually - Vogue Homme is always good.”

And what products does Rihanna favour?

“We use a lot of dry shampoo and chlorine-based products. I like to use olive oil products too - they really nourish the hair and give it shine,” he said.

But whilst the star is known for her diverse hair history, Williams assures us there is one style we’ll never see her try.

“I don’t see her going for a full afro,” he said. “She’s not that kind of girl.”
