Rihanna’s stylist Mel Ottenberg has revealed how “fun” it is to see Rihanna being so “fearless” about her tour wardrobe choices.

The pop songstress is currently on her Diamonds world tour and is impressing audiences with seven custom-made costumes from a range of designers.

The onstage outfits feature input from luxe label creators including Riccardo Tisci, Raf Simons, Alber Elbaz, and Rihanna’s stylist Mel Ottenberg is proud of the beauty’s innovative approach to fashion.

“The most amazing thing about Rihanna is what a chameleon she is,” she told style.com. “She’s always up for something new. She’s fearless, she knows what she likes, and it’s fun to see which ideas she’ll jump for.”

Rihanna’s tour wardrobe features a Givenchy cape, a tailor-made Lanvin jumpsuit and a range of flesh-baring attire, including bras and shorts.

Mel thinks the high-fashion designers pulled out all of the stops when it came to creating the singer’s outfits.

“Riccardo blew it out of the park. And Givenchy went above and beyond with the level of customisation, and dealing with all the pop-world craziness,” she gushed.

“And with Lanvin, I knew that, more than anybody, [Alber] would just murder a strong sparkly look to work with the idea of Diamonds.”

Adam Selman also contributed to the costumes, and created a red-and-yellow leather bra and pants ensemble for one section of the show. The designer - who collaborated with Rihanna on her River Island collection - also created the much-talked about holographic money dress.

“It was eighties David Lee Roth bouncing around on stage mixed with a sleek Lamborghini/Ferrari situation,” Mel laughed about the red-and-yellow combo, before adding about the hologram outfit: “The whole thing is very Thug Life Tupac mixed with nineties candy raver.”

Diamonds world tour costume credits

For the ballad section of the Diamonds World Tour, Rihanna teamed up again with her personal costume designer, Adam Selman, to enchance the signature knotted look like before during her red carpet and for her Rihanna for River Island collection line. To complete her look, Rihanna wore red Manolo Blahnik pumps attached to her ankles with a necklace by Lynn Ban (not pictured).

Adam Selman designed this red, yellow and outlined in black bra -including Rihanna’s leather pants with easy patterns. Manolo Blahnik are behind Rihanna’s white snake skin boots.

Adam Selman’s custom made dress and Pierre Hardy’s designed shoes automatically states that Rihanna clearly has money on her mind. When Rihanna comes out on stage for this opening act (not pictured), Rihanna is seen with a dollar print jacket with Depuis1924 vintage Jean Paul Gaultier sunglasses before taking both of them off.

When the lights are down and Rihanna suddenly appears gracing “Mother Mary”, she is seen sitting down in the dark with a light gracing over her in a black cloak by Givency by Riccardo Tisci. Afterwards, Rihanna takes off her black cloak and performs to “Phresh Out The Runway” in a head to toe look also by Givenchy/Tisci with over the knee nappa leather boots by Tisci, too.

Lastly, Rihanna is rocking out and giving it her all in a custom made made tee replica of Raf Simons’ 1995 ‘Sea of Desire’. Underneath her Raf Simons shirt, Rihanna is wearing shorts by Wolford and a bra by Eres; Rihanna completed her look lastly with white Christian Louboutin boots, Depuis1924 vintage Jean Paul Gaultier sunglasses and a custom made gold necklace by Michael Schmidt.
